Key Features of Canon iR 2425
- Prints both sides automatically at 16.7 ipm in A4, which halves paper consumption on reports and circulars without anyone reloading the tray.
- Puts a 7-inch colour touchscreen on an entry A3 machine, so scan-to-folder and copy presets are set up once and used with a tap.
- Scans and sends in colour while printing in black and white, the right economics for offices that archive in colour but print plain text.
- Prints directly from a USB memory key or a network location without a driver, handling PDF, TIFF, JPEG and XPS files.
- Draws 0.31 kWh in typical electricity consumption, low enough that a small office will not notice it on the bill.
Model Comparison of Canon iR 2425
Canon builds this model in two forms. The iR 2425 ships with a standard platen cover, so originals are placed on the glass one at a time. The iR 2425i ships with a duplexing automatic document feeder that scans two-sided originals to two-sided copies automatically. Both print duplex; the difference is how originals get in. For a machine that copies stacks daily, the 2425i saves more time than its price gap.
Against the iR 2224N at the same 24 to 25 ppm class, the 2425 offers a larger 7-inch colour touchscreen against the 2224N's 88.9 mm monochrome panel, and a faster processor. Against the iR 2925, the 2425 is smaller and cheaper but holds far less paper, and its C-EXV 60 toner is rated at around 10,200 pages against 33,000 on the 2925. On a busy machine that difference in cartridge changes adds up.
Worth weighing before buying: toner yield, not purchase price, usually decides the five-year cost.
Who Should Buy Canon iR 2425
The iR 2425 fits offices of roughly five to twenty people that print steadily in A4, need A3 available, and copy enough that automatic duplexing pays for itself: chartered accountancy practices, law offices, schools, architects' site offices, and trading and distribution firms.
The colour touchscreen makes it a sensible choice where several people with different levels of comfort share one machine, because presets can be built for the jobs that repeat. If monthly volume runs into several thousand pages, the 10,200-page toner will become the irritation and the iR 2925 is the better long-term buy.
