Key Features of Canon iR 2520W
- Prints and copies A3 at 20 pages per minute from a compact frame, which suits an office that needs large-format copying occasionally rather than constantly.
- Takes paper capacity up to 2,000 sheets with optional trays, so a small print room can run long jobs without standing over the machine.
- Uses a touchscreen panel rather than a button array, which shortens the learning curve for occasional users.
- Accepts an optional inner finisher for stapling, keeping collated sets together without a separate stapling step.
- Supports uniFLOW and eMaintenance, so usage can be tracked and service calls raised without a site visit to diagnose.
Model Comparison of Canon iR 2520W
Be clear about where this model sits. The iR 2520 series is an older Canon line, and the company no longer publishes a live datasheet for it. That has two consequences worth knowing before you buy: spare parts and toner availability will shorten over time, and firmware and security updates are unlikely.
Against Canon's current entry A3 machines, the iR 2206 and iR 2224N, the 2520W is slower at 20 ppm and lacks the wireless networking and modern security that both current models include as standard. What it offers in return is a lower price and a proven, simple mechanism that many service engineers know well.
Our honest recommendation: buy the 2520W only if budget is the binding constraint and the machine will do light work. If the copier is central to daily operations, a current model from the iR 2200 or iR 2400 range will cost more up front and less over five years. We are happy to price both side by side.
Who Should Buy Canon iR 2520W
The iR 2520W suits a budget-led purchase where A3 copying is needed but volume is light: a site office, a small branch, a trust or society office, a backup machine on a floor that already has a faster device, or a workshop that copies drawings a few times a week.
It is not the machine for an office that depends on its copier every hour of the day, nor for anyone who needs current network security, wireless connectivity or a long parts guarantee. In those cases the extra outlay on a current model is the cheaper decision. Tell us how the machine will be used and we will say plainly which way to go.
